PROBABLY BOLOGNESE SCHOOL FROM THE 18TH CENTURY. Job's Triumph.

According to the original by Guido Reni preserved in the Notre-Dame Cathedral in Paris (oil on canvas 410x270 cm) “The Triumph of Job” was widely admired in the 17th and 18th centuries, and contributed to its dissemination through the engraving made by Giuseppe Maria Mitelli in 1678. This work has traditionally been attributed to the circle of Jean-Honoré Fragonard. The painter from Grasse visited Bologna in July 1761 with his patron Jean-Claude Richard, abbot of Saint-Non. Together they copied some of the masterpieces preserved in the Bolognese collections.
