This lot has been put up for resale under the new lot no. 6194512 Steen Østergaard. Tangochair.dk anthracite-coloured structure-varnished spring steel frame, outfitted with a 12 mm under-cushion in black imitation leather, upholstered in sand-coloured Italian semi-aniline leather. In addition, protective leg caps, fittings and cushion-lamella produced in stainless steel. Designed by architect MAA Steen Østergaard 1964. Produced at JV Holding. DK: Steen Østergaard is a trained carpenter and woodcarver with a bronze medal, 1957. He graduated from the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts in 1960 with the highest honours. Following this, he was an army officer until 1962. As a trained architect, SØ was employed with Finn Juhl’s design studio 1962-1966, and later, he became chief designer and developer with Cado, France & Son and later with Abstracta 1970-1975. After his time with Wiltax 1978-1981, SØ has worked as an independent architect with studios in England, Germany and France, where he has been a resident for more than 25 years in the city of Nice. SØ was the first to invent and design a large lounge chair in one piece using injection-moulded plastic, and he has received numerous renowned awards from many different countries. In addition, SØ’s designs have been on display at exhibitions and museums all over the world. Including MOMA (Museum of Modern Art, New York). SØ’s designs are treasured and well-known far and wide, and his distinctive furniture designs still bring in high knockdown prices throughout the famous auction houses. SØ designed his Lounge-Chair in 1960, only 25 years old, and the chair has since been much sought after. In many ways, a difficult chair to produce, and it has now been relaunched by JV Holding.
