Oil on canvas, 70 x 110 cm, including frame 83 x 124 cm. Signed and dated Bertil Widbrant - 81. Bertil Widbrant (1914-1988) was a Swedish painter active mainly in Stockholm, known not least for his fine Stockholm paintings, in the borderland between the new objectivity and photorealism. He also made many sensitive animal and nature depictions. The auction's unusually large Stockholm painting by Bertil Widbrant is considered to be the foremost in his production, and shows in great detail and well-painted views of our capital from old Slussen. He studied at the Slöjdföreningens skola in Gothenburg and made several field trips to Yugoslavia, Italy, Switzerland and France. Has resale rights.
