Sculpture in ceramic, glass, cement on stone base, Height 53 cm (including plinth). Signed and dated Nyman -80. It was in the 1960s that Olle Nyman began creating his scrap sculptures. At first it was a spiritual game, not meant to be shown to the outside world. But that changed after the high-profile exhibition “Arkeologiska villfarelser” at Stockholms Stadsmuseum in 1966. With the scrap sculptures, Nyman combined his playful radicalism, his coloristic sensibility and his sense of both the architectural and the decorative. The figures were built up from pieces of stone, shards of pot and glass, as well as color-shimmering porcelain shreds, all joined together with cement. The fragments of various materials he found most often in the ground on Duvnäsgården's estates and he saw them as “objets trouvés” or as archaeological remains. Has resale rights.
