Passport issued by the Chief of Police in Copenhagen in 1811. During the late absolute monarchy, passports were a mandatory means of identification and control for both Danes and foreigners who wanted to travel outside their home parish or between regions and cities. They were abolished with the introduction of the Constitution in 1850. Light measurements 22x34 cm. (29x41 cm.) Shows signs of age-related wear.
