Pair of Baroque pedestals. Hispanic School. 17th century. Carved, polychrome, and gilded wood. With an imposing sculptural presence, this pair of Baroque pedestals takes the form of a truncated cone column and features exuberant relief decoration. The surface is richly carved with plant motifs, featuring large vine leaves and clusters of grapes intertwined with undulating tendrils—a clear symbolic allusion to wine and fertility, common in the religious ornamental repertoire of the period.
