Along the way, however, he encountered clay, and just a few months after graduating he established his own ceramics workshop. "Better to be a skilled ceramist than a mediocre painter", Lynggaard believed. In the following years he distinguished himself both nationally and internationally in the field of ceramics with unique works and artistic decorations. During a trip to Toronto in 1970, Lynggaard became deeply fascinated with glass art, which remained his primary focus for the rest of his life. Lynggaard quickly became a pioneer within studio glass in Denmark but also gained international recognition with works included in the permanent collections of, among others, the Corning Museum of Glass in New York and the Victoria & Albert Museum in London. Always keen on obtaining and sharing knowledge, Lynggaard wrote several influential books on ceramics and glass, and he taught at the Royal Academy of Arts from 1974-80, where he aided actively in establishing its glass education program. Lynggaard was also, together with his wife, glass artist Tchai Munch, among the main forces founding the Glass Museum in Ebeltoft, which opened in 1986 and became an international center for studio glass and glass art exhibitions. Has resale rights.
