A pair of earrings of 18 kt. white gold set with two Edison cultured pearls with white luster and few to no growth marks. L. 2.5 cm. Bead: Ø 11 mm. The ear tips appear with minimal traces of use. Accompanied by jewelery box. (2) The Edison pearl is a freshwater cultured pearl that is grown as a solo implant in the gonad of the mussel mother, where it develops over 5 years. Because the implant is approx. 6 mm., Edison pearls are twice the size of freshwater pearls, approx. 8-16 mm in diameter and are almost perfectly round in shape. Thanks to the technique of the special growth culture in the mussel, the white Edison pearls have a brighter and deeper luster and whiter color than freshwater pearls, and are therefore comparable to white saltwater South Sea cultured pearls.
