etched allegorical portrait cameo of William Pickering, surrounded by angling and hunting trophies on a classical podium, framed with vines hung with hunting gear, surmounted by an urn, with a stag's head at the bottom, signed T[homas] G[osden] on the powder flask, and ‘A[uguste] B[erry] fec.’ above the stag’s head, printed in sepia, later framed and glazed, 22.5cm x 29cm overall. Provenance: Gift of Roy Massey, Pickering & Chatto, 1981.
