NIELS DAM RAVN: Fluted bronze vase decorated with leaf vines, model no. 339, Nordisk Metalkunst, Denmark, Art Deco, 1930/40s.

Fluted bronze vase decorated with leaf vines designed by Niels Dam Ravn and executed at Nordisk Metalkunst in Smørum, Denmark (1940/40s). Stamped with model no. 339. Height: 17 cm. Diameter: 7 cm. Note: Not much is known about Nordisk Metalkunst (Nordic Metal Art), but the company was founded in 1934 and located in the small town of Smørum. The artist and caster Niels Dam Ravn was wholly or partially founder of the company and is believed to be behind the firm's early designs, which is why a raven is also seen in the company logo (his surname means raven in Danish).
