CABOCHON SAPPHIRE & RUBY PENDANT / BROOCH.

A silver brooch and pendant depicting a fly, set with a cabocon sapphire, ruby, pearl and marcasite and inlaid with coloured plique-à-jour. This brooch / pendant is silver (stamped "925"). It is fitted with a loop and a pin and can be used as either a pendant or a brooch. An oval cabochon sapphire gemstone of 8 x 7 mm, approx, is rubover set into insect's body. A single cultured pearl is set between the insect's wings. The eyes are set with 2 round red ruby gemstones, in a rubover setting. The sapphire is surrounded by a halo of marcasite stones. The wing's edges are also set with marcasite stones. The wings are inlaid with plique-à-jour in shades of red, yellow and green. Pendant / brooch measurements: 45 x 32 mm, approx. Total weight: 7.3 grams.
