An interesting collection of predominantly British folk, folk-blues and acoustic guitar LPs, with a particularly strong emphasis on some of the most influential figures of the 1960s British folk revival. The collection includes Davy Graham – Midnight Man, Large as life and twice as natural, and Hat, Graham being one of the pivotal figures in the development of British fingerstyle guitar and folk-blues; Bert Jansch – L.A. Turnaround and Bert and John with John Renbourn; together with The Pentangle, featuring Jansch, Renbourn, Jacqui McShee, Danny Thompson and Terry Cox. Further recordings include Otis Spann – Cracked Spanner Head on Deram; J.J. Cale – 5; Tom Paxton – Ramblin' Boy; and Jack Elliott – Sings the Songs of Woody Guthrie, together with the compilation The Twelve String Story featuring Bob Gibson, Glen Campbell, Frank Hamilton, Joe Maphis, Billy Strange, Fred Gerlach, Tommy Tedesco, Howard Roberts, Jim Helms, Mason Williams, Dick Rosmini and Jim McGuinn. A particularly appealing group for collectors of the British folk and acoustic guitar movement. Artists such as Graham, Jansch and Renbourn were central to the emergence of the distinctive British folk-baroque and fingerstyle guitar sound of the 1960s, their influence extending considerably beyond the traditional folk scene into blues, rock and subsequent generations of acoustic guitarists.
