Engraved with a crest, featuring a scroll handle and three hoofed feet. Hallmarked George Wickes, London, 1743. Overall Height 7cm x Width 13.5cm, weight 4.4ozt. George Wickes (1698 – 1761) was an English silversmith who in 1735 founded the company that was to become Garrard & Co. During the first half of the 1730's, he began royal commissions and was appointed Goldsmith to Frederick, Prince of Wales.
