A set of 7 colour lithographs on BFK Rives, 1964, signed in felt-tip pen and black ink, lower right, and numbered 70/100 in pencil, lower left. Each S. 49.5 x 69.5 cm. PROVENANCE Acquired directly by the current owner from the Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum, New York, 1964. Private collection, Sweden. This scarce set of color lithographs was published to coincide with "Alexander Calder: A Retrospective Exhibition" Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum, New York, November 6, 1964-January 31, 1965, and was offered for sale directly through the Guggenheim Museum. This set of color lithographs has not been offered altogether previously at auction. Only several impressions have appeared individually at auction over the past 30 years and there are single impressions of the color lithographs at The Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York (Florence and Joseph Singer Collection, 1965, accession number 65.691.2), and the Philadelphia Art Museum (Print Club of Philadelphia Permanent Collection, accession number 1965-57-4). Calder signed and dated one of the "bon à tirer" impressions "20 Sept 64" in ink.
