Beskrivning & detaljer
Untitled, executed in Havana, Cuba January 1968. Signed Jorn 68. Acrylic on paper laid down on canvas. 64×50 cm. Literature: “Vor maler i Havana”, Politiken, Kultur-Liv, 4th section, 2 July, 1994, reproduced and mentioned on page 5, in article written by Jens Kerte. Exhibited: FIAC, Paris 1988. Provenance: Gift from Jorn to the Cuban photographer Raoul Correles. Registrered in the archive at Museum Jorn, Silkeborg. In early 1968, Jorn was at an international cultural conference in Havana, Cuba. He realized that his participation in the conference was not very interesting, so he arranged for him to carry out a decorative assignment. The Minister of Culture, Carlos Franqui, gave permission for Jorn to paint a wall decoration in the Revolutionary Archives (a former American bank). Cuban photographer Raoul Correles immortalized the artistic creation process in a small book, and Jorn gave his Cuban friend four of the dozen pictures he made in Cuba next to the murals in the former bank building in Havana.
