Arne Jacobsen (1902-1971). Oxford office chair, medium-high back, frame of high-gloss polished aluminum, five-star base, shell of laminated molded wood, Manufactured by Fritz Hansen, 2008. Seat H. 42/55 cm. Appears newly upholstered with cognac-colored aniline leather, this was not made by Fritz Hansen, but by a professional Danish furniture upholsterer. Aniline leather is made from raw hides. The leather basically has a completely natural bare surface, where all natural marks are visible. This helps to emphasize the unique character of the leather. The leather is full-grain, which means that the natural surface structure is preserved. Aniline leather changes over time through use and exposure to light and quickly acquires a natural patina. The frame appears with scratches and marks.
